Return To The Barrio- I really enjoyed reading this scene because it showed more of how each personality was. I came to understand Henry's family more and how nice they were to stick by his side. I became intense when i started to read the part where Henry found out that Della had moved in and Alice had heard. I became intense because i knew how Henry was feeling at the moment since Alice his "crush" was there. Rudy quote was, "Henry Reyna went to Korea in 1950. He was shipped across in a destroyer and defended the 38th Parallel until he was kille din Inchon in 1952, being posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal Honor' pg.94. This quote was important to me because being a "minority" many upper class people seem to try to find the worse of us so they have something bad to say but Henry only showed those people different, so i was really proud of him.
Question: Would you have expected Henry of dying a different way?
I didn't really think that Henry would die, i just thought that he might change his ways but in the end, the story doesn't really say, if he didn't change his ways then i would think of Henry dying from a gang shoot out, but not from war. The gringos treated Henry bad and attacked the pachucos so why would he go off to war to help out those who attacked his people? It doesn't make any sense, i would just expect him to die from a gand shoot out if he stayed as a gangster or just simply die of old age if he went clean
ReplyDeletehonestly, i do believe Henry would of died in this kind of tragic way. He didn't really seem to be satisfied with what he had. And he knew what was coming towards him. So either way they(cops, press, etc.)Where still after him.
ReplyDeleteI Didn't really expect Henry to die..specially that way. I also thought that Henry was a real brave person, but as well I also thought that he knew what was coming his way. Henry knew that everything was over (at least for him). Everyone wanted him to be gone, like Chacon21 said :"cops,press,etc" were still after him. regardless
